EmptyShed – My Early Efforts at Blogging

Ten years in blogging and the internet is a long time. This morning I was wondering what happened to the content and writing that I’d posted online when I first set up my own self-hosted blog? Well, with the magic of the internet, and the power of the Web Archive, it’s possible to go back and have a look.

Empty Shed was my early attempt at capturing my thinking, sharing my observations, and trying to keep a record of what was happening around me. It’s fascinating to see that I was writing about radio, community media, politics and sharing photos and Tweets much in the same way that I do now. For the record, I voted for David Miliband in the Labour Leadership election in 2010, and look how that turned out.

I clearly need to archive this and go through it to see what has stood the test of time and what has turned out differently than I’d hoped or expected. I don’t often look back, but this is a fascinating way of finding out what I was doing, talking about and dealing with more than a decade ago. It seems such a long time ago now. I’m sure there will be things I need to own-up to, I’ve become more mature about, but I’m also sure there are things I wish I’d pushed harder about. Only time will tell.
