I went for a walk into Leicester on Saturday and recorded some sounds and some thoughts. I’ve mixed them together with a couple of tracks. It was a gloomy day. It was raining, and the city felt calm and lacking in festive spirit. I’m convinced that this is a good thing as long as we learn to do things in a different way. Calm things down. Less focus on spending money we don’t have. More time valuing the company of the people that we share our lives with in the city. It’s very easy to allow anxiety and cynicism to take grip, but even just the basic recordings that I captured here made me feel less anxious and more relaxed. We are bombarded by media, traffic, people and noise so much of the time, but we seldom get the opportunity to take our time and listen to the city. I’ll try and get out more often to do this, if anyone wants to join me on a soundwalk, message me via Twitter or Instagram.
